the story does still of course work in this form, but it's disappointing how many lines of the original text this narrator skips over. like, "carefully, AC organized the program" isn't a filler line, it is a description of God writing His plan for the universe. leaving it out diminishes the impact of the lines immediately following it

RIP Aaron Bushnell, for those of you re-watching this and thinking of him. It's easy to depict these things, it's easy to express cynicism for the status quo and its evils. It's another thing to actually act in resistance in any kind of meaningful way. I do not think anyone should have to take action in this way, but for someone morally principled, whose mental state is in profound despair and who doesn't have anything else in the world they feel holds them back, I find it completely understandable in the current moment and in other places in other times where the cruelty is extreme and hope is almost impossible to fathom. So I believe that Aaron was a good man and I pray that the world will change to prevent so many good and innocent people from dying needlessly or laying down their lives as forfeit to a world as hateful as this one. I also think those of us that are here now need to think about how we can *live* everyday in a way which is appropriate to the unjust state of things, what we can do to look at ourselves in the mirror and not feel-- just by living in a corrupt society-- that we are betraying the faith, and knowledge of right and wrong, that we have contained within our hearts.
